Of course, nobody wants to be out of a job, and while I appreciate the people who have the luxury of time and resources to actually take months off of work, I just can't picture myself doing the same. I'd probably be broke before I even knew it, and I'd fall into this pit of "I love not working, I should stop working forever" mentality, because I'm getting pretty close to falling into that ditch already.
Hire My Friend gives users the chance to sign up for the service and create an account by linking their Twitter accounts to their profiles. They then fill out basic information, such as the best email address to reach them through...
- It's completely anonymous, for as long as you want it to be.
You do get the option to reveal more information to companies you're interested in, so you can filter out possible headhunters (if you don't want to receive spam from companies you'd never work for) and your current employers (if you don't want to lose your current job).
- It works with a backer system
Hire My Friend utilizes the power of social media, and once you finish completing your profile, you'll have the option to ask friends to back you up.
If you're based out of Manila like I am, worry not, as many outsourcing companies are also beginning to use Hire My Friend's services. The service is completely free for people looking for jobs, but it does cost a bunch for the companies who are looking to hire.
Plus, it's a great way to get in touch with like-minded individuals who are looking to start something great in the world. Majority of the employers using Hire My Friend are small start-up companies, so it's perfect for people who're tired of the hulking corporations and the politics that run them.
So, did I find my new job with Hire My Friend? Well, no. The only downside is that the service isn't too well-known in the PH, but we're working on that, aren't we? It has so much potential, and it's really one of those things that remind us that, no, we don't have to work shitty jobs.
You can find Hire My Friend here, or follow their Twitter here.
BONUS: Considering quitting your job?
As well as some great reading material for employers who find themselves losing employees faster than... what loses things really fast?
Really, all I can say about it is that if your job makes you dread waking up in the morning, it's time to hightail it out of there. Leaving my high-paying super-stressful job for a chill job with a so-so salary was one of the best decisions of my life. It could be yours too.
